عمل مؤسس مجموعة زلوم مديراً لعمليات أول منشأة للتكرير الكلّي الهيدروجيني في العالم كما شارك في إدارة المشروع أثناء التصاميم في لوس أنجيليس بالولايات المتحدة (1966)
The Founder of Zalloum & Associates participated at EPC contracto’s Los Angeles offices for the world’s first all-hydrogen refining technology. Later on, he managed the operations of that unique project.

أكثر التطورات والاختراعات التكنولوجية في قطاع النفط، تمت في الخمسين سنة الأخيرة وهي المدة التي عملها مؤسس هذه الشركة في قطاع النفط.

كانت باكورة عمله آنذاك في مشروع أول مصفاة للبترول يتم تصميمها من شركة Snam Progetti والتي بدأت بتنفيذ المشروع سنة 1958.

ولقد عمل مؤسس Z&A في الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا والشرق الأوسط.

حيث شارك في أعمال إدارة المشروع في مرحلة التصميم والبناء ثم عمل مديراً لعمليات أول مصفاة في العالم تعالج كافة منتجاتها بالهيدروجين في وحدات تصنيعية كانت الأولى من نوعها في صناعة التكرير في العالم.

ولقد تمت التصاميم بواسطة شركة Fluor آنذاك كالمتعهد الرئيسي في لوس أنجيلوس وذلك لحساب شركة البترول الوطنية الكويتية ولقد احتوى ذلك المشروع على معالم كانت الأولى في صناعة تكرير النفط، منها:

* هدرجة كافة المنتوجات وإنتاج مواصفات متميزة قبل 40 سنة تتطابق حتى مع مواصفات Euro IV هذه الأيام:

* أكبر وحدات لإنتاج الهيدروجين في العالم.
* أول أكبر وحدات للتحطيم الهيدروجيني في العالم.
* اعرض أبراج للتقطير تحت الفراغ في العالم.
* أكبر وحدة لاستخلاص الكبريت من الغاز في العالم.

وبعد قيام مؤسس المجموعة بالإشراف على عمليات هذا المشروع مع توسعته إلى 180.000 برميل/اليوم أسس شركته الاستشارية الخاصة سنة 1972 وكانت باكورة أعمالها الأعمال التأسيسية لقطاع المصافي وخطوط نقل الغاز والبترول لشركة بترول أبو ظبي الوطنية (ADNOC) وذلك لمصافي إم النار والرويس ومعالجة الغاز في المقطع .
